Is staying in the WAC an option?

Benson seems to want to do anything he can to keep Tech and/or N.M. St. from jumping ship.

Possible candidates for WAC expansion:

Texas St.

UTSA

Montana

Montana St.

Cal Poly

Cal-Davis

Sac St.

I also like Missouri St. if Benson is serious about getting Tech to stay

If the plan for La. Tech is to avoid the Sunbelt at all costs then we should embrace those schools as potential members. However, imagine winning the WAC year in and year out against THOSE teams. Would we get respect? Very little in my opinion....certainly no more than we would against the Sunbelt teams. And you know what would be earth shattering for Tech? NOT winning the conference year in and year out against THOSE teams. We all know what Tech should do should BYU not become part of the WAC. It is just a matter of being honest with ourselves.

It's worth noting that Montana could end up being really good. Unlike some I-AA programs, they don't rely on transfers and even as a I-A team they pull in 25k a game. Of course, with them comes Montana State which is much more dicey.

The new WAC will only be short term (2-3 years).

The WAC will no longer exist by 2012. That is my opinion.

We will not even be a part of the new WAC. More changes are coming in all conferences. In two years we will be in CUSA. I guarantee it!!!!

Not based on any insider knowledge just on common sense and logical thinking. CUSA will need teams in the next couple of years, with our new facilities we will be in a good position.

Let's be honest with ourselves....we have no other choice but to stay in the dying WAC conference for now.

All we can do is hope and pray that C-USA comes calling.
