common sense tells me he's going to be a Devil at the end of this arbitration. the arbitrator is known to vote in favor of players...

but the right move would be to disallow it. theyve been tossing the word "blatant" around a lot, but I cant think of a better word to describe what this is..

The NBA has salary rules so that this kind of circumventing the cap is not allowed. I dont know which way the arbitration will go but I do see a rules change in the future to avoid this.

I'm so tired of talking about guys contracts instead of actual hockey. These salary caps are really hurting the game in that manner. I'd like to see a fair system developed for big & small market clubs that can let us go back to being hard core hockey fans instead of part time accountants.

It's a terrible contract, it's definately made to circumvent the leagues rules, however I think given the fact that Hossa's contract was allowed the precident was already set.

It's the NHL's fault for allowing indefinite contract lengths.

Being concerned about the how as opposed to the how much.

You can pay a player anything you want, so long as the contract isn't weighted to circumvent the cap ... only a ****tard like Bettman would miss the flaw in that logic.

NJ will simply restructure the contract to be in line with Hossa's and the NHL will have no ground upon which to stand.

Here is my take on this:

First if the arb rules against the NHL. The NHL is screwed, there will be teams offering 20 yr deals because were is the line drawn? This contract has ZERO chance of being completed. How many players play at the age of 44? Not many. So if this is allowed teams can pretty much say we will give you what you want but we will space it till you are 50. The Salary cap would have no meaning for big market teams. Welcome back to the issues we had before the cap came to be.

In regards to people talking about salaries and the salary cap, i kind of just view it as anther stat. We have goals, assists, points and now salary. Kind of like baseball now has whip, war and so many other crazy stats. Doesnt really bother me to be honest. I think it adds something more to the game and if it keeps teams competetive i am all for it. I stopped watching baseball because it became boring. With the balance all messed up, why watch the season? For teams like the Yanks the regular season means nothing. Wake me up when its Sept lol. I love the fact that in the NHL any team can beat you on any given night. So pretty much i love the cap and i cant stand all these teams circumventing the cap (philly, Hawks, Detriot etc) notice 2 teams played for the cup.

I love the cap, seems we have less fossils in New York because of it, lol
