Do they become unrestricted free agents?

Don't worry it's not gonna happen. They're deals are no where near the Ilya contract.

But they still "circumvent" the cap. Just because they aren't stretched out as far as Kovy's doesn't meant they didn't "use a loophole" ... It's like a speeding ticket. Sure there's a gap between 90 and 120 mph, but they're both speeding none-the-less.
However, there are a LOT of deals that could *technically* be drawn up in a way that circumvents the CBA. I think Bettman is an idiot for doing this though. He should have rejected the contracts at the time, not now. As much as I hate those guys for being able to use the loophole, while Kovy's was rejected, there are some (like Hossa) who shouldn't be punished since he's already played a freaking season under the deal. Bettman missed it at the time. You can't re-write the rules in the middle of the game. Right now Bettman is cutting off his nose to spite his face. The guy is an idiot and just doesn't have ANY sense at all. He doesn't know what he's doing.
Isn't there some way that the fans can impeach him or something? He's ruining the sport.

The only possible rejection we will see is on the Savard and Pronger extensions. And because they're just that, extensions. They haven't played any games under those agreed upon contracts, which means to me the NHL still has any and every opportunity to investigate and thereafter void the contracts. Hossa has not only played a single game (and a lot more) under that contract, but he's also won a Cup.
Just like Hossa Luongo has already played under that contract, it wont be voided.

The sad thing is...I wouldn't put it past Bettman to at least try to get them voided, not that they really can since most of those contracts have already gone into effect. He's definitely not going to score any brownie points with the NHLPA ... He's doing exactly the wrong thing. Right now he should be kissing their *** so the new CBA will get ironed out quickly. He's way too stubborn to be in charge.

If it happens people will be murdered. Gary Bettman for starters.

I don't believe Bettman is even that stupid. He's drawing a line right now and I think he would only try to work within that line. He can't fathom he would get away with voiding contracts players have already performed under. Simply put, Savard and Pronger have not played or served under these contracts at all. Hossa won a Cup and the others have played at the agreed upon salaries for a season, you can't just void it out of nowhere.
