Flyers, Leafs Discussing JVR/Schenn Deal

Figured that this would be a major trade, so posted this thread to the NHL forum as well as the Flyers forum.

We need a center more than a winger considering we're pretty stacked on the wing. I'd still do it, JVR has more upside then luke.

As a Flyers fan I say it is unlikely. I would love to get Schenn but if Philly trades JVR with his long term contract after moving Carter and Richards last year with long term contracts then they will be losing alot of credibility as an organization with any future FAs unless they give NTC.

Besides if I am going to give up JVR I would prefer a proven stud like Suter or Weber in return. Schenn has a ton of potential but give up a top young talent like JVR for someone who has seen his ice time slip a little in the last year worries me a little.

There's part of me that wants to do this trade because I'm not sold that we can win a cup with Pronger out, but the other part stops me because I agree with you.

I can see why this deal may be tempting to the Flyers since JVR and Schenn are both the same age and they have a hole to fill, but I just can't agree with them pulling the trigger on giving up a guy with JVR's upside.

I think you'll have to offer more than just Schenn for JVR but that's just my opinion.

This seems fair as both Flyer fans and Leaf fans (At least I know I am) are relatively uncomfortable about this potential deal.

I worry JVR will never become that special player people think he can be.

Well that's the issue here, I would be willing to trade JVR, but not straight up for just Schenn. They probably wouldn't give us Kadri and Schenn, but if I'm Homer that's definitely what I would be pushing for.

Id do it if we got something else in return. Gets us that young dman that we should have gotten in the Richards/Carter trades
