Poll: Would you rather trade Melo or Amare??

Obviously we don't have to trade either, and we can pray that

1. Coach gets fired

2. Baron can somehow be healthy and in shape and turn back the clock a few years and turn this around

But, this is a question to see who you'd rather trade if it's best for the team.

And this isn't a "who's better" question..

I'm not saying Melo isn't the better player.. He is definitely more skilled.. But as a franchise leader? I was extremely skeptical about that trade last year, and am even more skeptical now..

I'm sorry but I for one want Amare!

I greatly miss the man we had here before the Melo trade.

He was so good and such a great leader, and if he ever had a long stint with a basketball coach who actually knew how to coach... I think he could be even better (on defense particularly and in the post on offense).

My dream scenario would be to trade Melo for Deron Williams. Willams, Stat, Chandler is the Perfect trio! All three are great vocal leaders and would compliment each other beautifully IMO.

And when I hear this Dwight for Amare rumor, I'm thinking to myself how about Dwight for Melo?

Can you imagine a front court of Howard and Amare? Could that work? One guy in the low block and one guy on the high post? I think with the right coach (obviously not our current one) it could be nasty, but I want to know your thoughts.

We could always do Chandler and Melo and they throw in Nelson and maybe J.J. Or we keep Chandler and have the biggest and nastiest front court pretty much ever!

I say we keep both. I am not sure we can get a better two players, and they are party good players to have. Top 5 scorer and top 2 scorer first half of the season last year. I still think it can work, even if baron is not 60%.

The talent level disparity has to be a factor. I would much rather keep the player who is capable of taking over the game. If Melo lets go of this jump shooting mentality, his post game and ability to get to the rim is what seperates him from the rest.

But the main reason is Amar'e's knees, contract and age. Amar'e is also at his best when he has a good point guard.

Melo's game is independant of his teammates, which can be an issue because he could be a ball stopper. But his passing and rebounding abilities also tower over Amar'e's.

Amar'e also refuses to play defense.

We simply gave up too much for Melo, so he is going nowhere. Amare is a little older, with bad knees and declining talent, not to mention he plays no D and is a mediocre rebounder. I'm all for moving him and his fat contract.

Amare cannot be your best player on a team honestly trying to compete for a championship. Everyone knew that and even he knew and thats why the Knicks pushed so hard for the Melo trade.

We should trade both: Melo for Williams, and Amare and Chandler for Howard.
