Unlocked '88 Dodgers... Uh, who's on first ?

I unlocked the Los Angeles Dodgers 1988 Team and it leaves me wondering, where are the '88 Dodgers? The roster is populated with names that aren't even close to the actual roster. They aren't even recognizable baseball names.

Where is Kirk Gibson, Orel Hershiser, Steve Sax, Mike Scioscia, Jesse Orosco, Mike Marshall, etc...?

Who and what are these names 2K Sports has input into the '88 Dodgers? It would seem that I don't know is indeed on third.

There are so many things wrong with this game, but to create a team called '88 Dodgers and then populate it with fictitious names... WTF?

It probably has to do with not having permission to use their real names. I would imagine their ratings are correct, but Madden had the same issue with their All-whatever-year teams. Their guys were always QB#15, etc...

Sometimes programmers (but not all) will make the names similar to the player they represent. Ex: Steve Sax may = Pete Tuba. Orel Hershiser may = Hershey Molars.

Just so you know who's who.

I guess having erroneous player names in an '88 Dodgers roster is just another straw on the camel's back.

I won't go into all the things that are so wrong with this game, we have all read those posts.

Thank God I did not spend $50 on this game. I picked it up free with the purchase of my XBOX 360.

The only thing I like about this game is Jon Miller and Joe Morgan commentary.

I think the best analogy for this game is "all icing and no cake."

This game doesn't come close to being half the man EA's MLB 2005 is... Too bad I have to go back to my PS2 to enjoy a non-compromised baseball game.

EA please release a baseball game for XBOX 360 !

Like I said, it's less a reflection of the game's shoddiness -- and it is bad. It's a matter of permission. Those players didn't agree to be in the game, so the producers are not allowed to use them. No producer is allowed to use a person's likeness without their permission.

Madden never had names for their All-History teams. Just a position and number. It is up to you to figure out who they are.

And I'm not surprised you got the game free with all the problems it has.
